This was my second time at Rey’s. I hosted my bday dinner there with approx 20 people & everyone loved it but bc of such a large party we had a set menu. I decided to have our date night there on Friday, March 6th so I can experience the other food and it didn’t disappoint at all. Our waitress Nora set the tone for the night with her bubbly personality & kept us laughing the entire time. She truly was lovely! Nora recommended the catch of the day and that blackened sea bass was pure perfection. I’m actually still thinking about how delightful it was. Truly everything we ate was so delicious but baby those au gratin potatoes hands down the best I ever tasted! Everything was chef kiss! Thanks for a great date night! Big shout out to Nora…the world needs more of her beautiful spirit!
Rey’s Restaurant in Cary is easily one of the best—if not the best—restaurants in the Triangle. You know how people talk about hidden gems? Well, Rey’s isn’t hidden at all. It’s a big, shining gem that everyone should know about, and for good reason. The food is every bit as impressive as the service. The lamb chops were outstanding—tender, juicy little lollipops dipped in a rich, flavorful sauce that made every bite memorable. But the real showstopper was the Bananas Foster. They lit it on fire right at the table, turning dessert into an incredible performance. Watching the flames dance was unforgettable, and the flavor was even better. If you’re lucky, you may even meet Rey himself—a gracious, welcoming host. Simply put, Rey’s sets the standard for fine dining in the Triangle.
We planned a visit here after an influencer recommended this place to have the best steak in Raleigh. To start the bread and wedge salad were delicious. My wife and I both ordered a bone in ribeye with a lobster tail. Where we messed up was listening to the recommendation of getting the lobster tail that’s cut up, seasoned, and put back in the shell. It was plated with the steak and when I tell you it was the most over powering garlic I’ve ever had, it sadly ruined my steak also. I had to scrap my plate twice to get the garlic off. The steak was super tender and juicy and cooked perfect but all I could taste was the sauce from the lobster. We didn’t complain but the server noticed we’d removed our lobster from our steak plate and we explained why. She insisted they get us a regular lobster tail even though we said no it was fine our mistake for ordering the other, she still brought us two regular ones to take home. The lyonnaise potatoes were not good, they were like thick chips, I wanted to ask for ketchup. We had the banana foster and it was delicious and the table side presentation was nice. Would love to try their steak again without all the garlic sauce running under it. Tried to eat it after we got back to the hotel and it was still all garlic. In short, go with what you know, maybe skip the recommendations.
This is a solid 3.5 star restaurant. So I rounded up… Service? 5 stars. Always. Atmosphere is a little plain but it’s still a dressy, nice vibe. But after my third visit, I have to comment on the food. I dined here on Valentine’s Day and was excited to come with someone who had never been before. I was so disappointed to see Valentine’s Day had a relatively skimmed down menu and two of my favorite side dishes that I was looking forward to were not available. No mashed sweet potatoes?? What?! What made up for that was thankfully still having my favorite appetizer - the calamari, which comes on top of a richly seasoned corn and Lima bean succotash-type mix. My boyfriend ordered the pork chop and it was very, very, undercooked. We enjoy medium rare in steaks but the pork was almost cold. We never send food back but we had to ask for it to cooked longer. We tried the mushroom side dish and other than garlic, they were completely flavorless. Extremely unseasoned. One highlight was the 16 oz. ribeye that was one of the most tender I’ve ever had. The bananas foster is worth getting in the door for though. A truly perfect dessert that is completely made table-side (flame and all!). Previously I tried the chicken piccata and it was almost inedible. Slimy breading and waaay too much lemon. Just not tasty. But if you go at a normal time, the sweet potatoes and potatoes Au gratin are amazing. Solid 3.5 star restaurant.
Best Valentines Day we’ve ever had. We got the calamari for appetizer and it was easily the best I’ve had. The drinks were amazing, and our waiter Dana gave us the best customer service we’ve ever had. Our main entrees were so good I forgot to take a picture of them, I got the lamb and my wife got the filet. We will definitely be coming back
Melt in your mouth wagyu ribeye steak was their special. So tender and seasoned perfectly. I paired a really nice red wine with it. Had the garlic green beans for a side that were pretty good. Could have used just a tad more flavor, but they had a very nice fresh taste. Had the white chocolate bread pudding for dessert that will make your eyes roll in the back of your head. So soft and not overly rich in flavor. A very big portion too. I definitely recommend giving them a try, and I will be back for round 2.
I had a good experience at Rey's restaurant. The ribeye was good, the mashed potato was very tasty. The cheesecake was wonderful here too. Everyone enjoyed the food and the service was excellent.
This is fine dining! If you're debating between the ones that start with V or RH skip them both and come here. From the service to the food this is truly the triangle's best kept secret. Everyone, including the manager was warm and welcoming from the door. The food was so well seasoned and cooked perfectly. The menu is a la carte so you have freedom of choice. The sides are meant to be shared and come in healthy portion sizes. The waiters were charming and kept the meal well paced. Highly recommend the surf & turf. Can’t wait to return!
